This was composed for the Stan Bann Big Band and full orchestra in honor of Duke Ellington's centenary. For the recording we augmented the group with Beth Meester (the entire French Horn section!), Mara Bann (trumpet), and Cherie Bann (keyboards, synth, clarinet, percussion). Doug Rasmussen did the alto solo. Special thanks also go to Steve W. for engineering above and beyond the call of duty!! (The title comes from a turn of phrase used by my daughter, Maralyssa, when, at age seven, guest authored one of my wife's newspaper columns.)
